Traveling the Road of Conflict

I’m working with several clients right now who are facing conflict.

Some are dealing with tough personal situations.

Others are navigating challenges in their businesses.

And then there’s me.

I have a business situation that has conflict potential written all over it.

My human nature wants to avoid it — preferably forever.

But what value am I as a coach if I don’t practice what I teach?

How can I tout the benefits of the system I coach if I won’t use it myself?

All of us—me and my clients—have talked through the issues, leaned on family and friends, and sought support.

But here’s the hard truth:

The road of conflict must be traveled alone.

Yes, others can - and will - cheer for you.

Yes, they’ll meet you on the other side.

But no one can walk the uncomfortable steps for you.

And it is uncomfortable.

Fear. Anxiety. Uncertainty. All hovering.

Do these feelings mean we’re making the wrong choice?

No.

Sometimes the most valuable steps in life must be taken in spite of the feelings.

The only way to the other side is to feel the fear… and take the step anyway.

You don’t have to start by feeling good.

But you do have to start.

Even if you have to travel the road alone.
